On June 4, 2024 in the city of Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, the fourth meeting of the forum of think tanks “China — Central Asia” was held under the title “Mutually beneficial cooperation on the way to common prosperity and sustainable development”.
The forum was organized and held jointly by the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
The forum discussed the current situation of cooperation between China and Central Asian countries, prospects for expanding multilateral cooperation in industrialization, digitalization, green economy development, as well as cooperation in transport, logistics and innovation.
The meeting was attended by representatives of political, diplomatic and expert-analytical circles of Uzbekistan and China, heads and experts of think tanks of Central Asian countries.
On the Tajik side, in the summit participated Rahmonzoda Abdujabbor Azizi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Usmonzoda Khayridin, Director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In the first section of the forum, Usmonzoda Khayridin, Director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, made a report on “Strengthening cooperation between Tajikistan and China for stability and development of Central Asia”.
During his speech, Usmonzoda Khayridin noted that sincere friendship and interest in expanding cooperation between the peoples of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China in our historical and cultural traditions, which today are again developing, acquiring a new look and deep content, bringing fruitful results, have deep roots.
It was emphasized that the traces of such meeting and enrichment of fruitful experience of civilization throughout the millennia penetrate into the basis of communication and dialogue of our peoples, give spiritual nourishment to the consciousness of our people and expand the worldview of our peoples.
Usmonzoda Khayridin emphasized that today, against the backdrop of growing destructive trends in the world, Tajikistan and China, following the ancient traditions of cooperation in various sectors, are making efforts to strengthen joint communications and sustainable relations.
During his speech, the Director of the Center noted that relations between Tajikistan and China are based on the principles of mutual respect for each other’s independence, territorial integrity and fundamental interests. The warm, sincere and friendly attitude of the Tajik and Chinese peoples to multilateral cooperation between the two countries largely stems from these principles. On this basis, strengthening stable, friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation with China is a priority of Tajikistan’s foreign policy.
In addition, the Director paid special attention to Tajikistan’s cooperation with China in the sphere of trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
Taking into account the contradictory modern processes negatively affecting the security of our region and China’s role in stabilizing the situation in the region, the need for cooperation with the People’s Republic of China on regional security issues was emphasized.
At the end of his speech, the Director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan noted that the upcoming visit of the President of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Tajikistan will give a new impulse to bilateral relations and will lead to further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
